Olympic Kayak made in Denmark

Project Description

Recently our Huntsville team had the honor and privilege to crate and ship this K-2 Ribelle model kayak made in Denmark for Olympic competition in 1964. This particular Kayak won a Silver Medal in the 1964 Tokyo Games in the Women’s 500 meters K-2 Sprint. It was the first-ever medal for USA women’s canoeing. It was paddled by Francine Fox and Gloriane Perrier. The kayak is 256 inches long and weighed 40 lbs. It is an amazing, delicate piece of history that we protected and helped deliver to a museum for all to see and remember. To ensure its safe travel and delivery we braced the kayak and added wrapping and foam.
